When the manager of Australia’s biggest recording artist Guy Sebastian contacted him for a possible collaboration in 2011 on a song called “Battle Scars”, DL was in the midst of pursuing his goal of putting his name & music in the spotlight in hopes to be discovered as an artist. On the back of his demo cd ‘Walk With Me: The Demonstration’, the Melbourne rapper got picked up by one of Australia’s highest-profiled management companies, & got the opportunity to work with a multi ARIA award-winning artist on what eventuated as a Billboard-charting worldwide smash with American rapper Lupe Fiasco.

The opportunity helped spur DL, as he continued to evolve & emerge as an artist. He forged ahead to support international live acts such as Keri Hilson, Bobby Valentino, Next & Joe. The crafty rapper’s song titled “Until Today” was named ‘The Song of the Year’ in the ‘John Lennon Songwriting Contest’ (judged by John Legend & Bootsy Collins); the first rapper to claim that title.

Delivering chilled hip-hop tunes, influenced by soulful R&B and Pop, DL created opportunities to collaborate with accomplished Australian artists Chris Sebastian (winner of ‘The Voice Australia’), Jason Heerah (X Factor Australia), and ARIA-nominated Nathaniel. His R&B-influence shone bright when he collaborated with American R&B artist Sammie on his single “No Time For Love”.

The Atlanta x Melbourne collaboration earned DL his first dose of radio play in the U.S, and introduced him to the New Zealand music scene through support of NZ’s largest urban radio station Mai FM. No stranger to Australian radio, DL has had releases feature on stations like Radio Adelaide, PBS FM, Triple J and KISS FM – earning the praises of Triple J’s Tyrone Pynor & unearthed music director Dave Ruby Howe for his single “LOVE”, as well as charting in KISS FM’s Top 10 with “No Time For Love”.

DL now returns for his primary release of 2022 titled “Lost an Angel”. Co-written with Thirsty Merc's Rai Thistlethwayte, DL also collaborated with fellow Melbournian artist James Franklin & ARIA-Award winning producer One Above (Hilltop Hoods, Illy) to bring this powerful single to life.

The song was inspired by losing loved ones through all of life’s cruelties, and with the support of the captivating music video, DL is hoping to promote awareness of mental health & the importance of supporting those impacted. The painfully beautiful melodies, built on compelling chord progressions, deliver a lyrically expressive tribute to lost loves.

With an official visual set to precede the audio release of Lost an Angel, DL teamed up with long-time friend and J.A.M Inc's Johnny Angel, to write, produce, and direct a music video highlighting some of the greatest issues in today's society which lead to mental health disorders. DL intends to promote awareness on the challenges of dealing with online bullying, domestic violence and sexual discrimination.

Lost An Angel’s official music video will be released on November 1st followed by the audio, to be released world-wide on Friday the 4th of November 2022.
